Wine Description:
The grapes for our 2005 Syrah come from the Victor Hugo vineyard in east Templeton. The wine also includes a small amount of Petite Sirah from the Howell Vineyard in Paso Robles.The grapes were gently pumped over the skins during fermentation to achieve maximum extraction of color and flavor. Fermentation was finished in small French and American oak barrels (30% new and 70% neutral). The wine is unfiltered.

Produced exclusively with Marzemino grapes from our vineyards, which frame the 17th century company house and cellars, lying on the right side of the Adige river. This young wine is fruit of the Castello, Brugnara and Dossi vineyards, set in the heart of the classical areas of Marzemino production. This wine, dedicated to Mozart, is of ruby red colour with violet reflections; dry, slightly bitterish taste; delicate and subtle bouquet, bringing violets to mind.

Wine Description:
Owner / winemaker Bob Dunning produces very small quantity of a claret-style zinfandel. Minimal use of new oak both French and American. Adds subtle spiciness to the bright black fruit flavors. Neither overripe or over alcohol- it’s a perfect Zinfandel.

Wine Description:
Selected in Feb. ’09, Firestone had ten barrels, of which, they only needed 8 for their blending program. They allowed me to choose the best two barrels that was then blended together and sold exclusively at Julio’s. Style-wise, this is closer to a French wine then to a South American wine. With bigger tannin’s and more mineral characteristics. This wine should easily last eight to ten years. Or, enjoy it now with any red meat right off the grill.

Wine Description:
Discovered in Dec. ’09 while touring southwest France. This wine was fashioned after some bottles that were buried for protection from the Nazis’ during WW2. They were not found again until the late 1980’s. The wines were still perfectly good and inspiring producer Producteur Plaimont to duplicate the wines original recipe through chemical analysis. This is the result.

From Montecucco, on the southern fringe of Montalcino, comes this stunningly powerful, lush Sangiovese that is, quite simply, one of the best of its kind we’ve had. The zone is able to produce some of the most robust, unctious wines in all of Tuscany, and winemaker Alessandro Bocci takes full advantage of his land’s terroir. Aged in Frenck oak barrels, this wine pushes the boundaries of Sangiovese, re-defining the varietal yet again. Named after Alessandro’s wife AND mother, he said of his wine: “I had no choice but to name it Rita!”

Tasting Notes:
Specialists in Chianti Classico Riserva, the Gatteschi family of Gaiole makes one of the finest examples in all of Tuscany. In this case, however, the family decided to classify this Chianti Classico as a basic “non-Riserva”. Frankly speaking, this decision has less to do with the quality of the wine or the relatively weak vintage than the simple long-term, patient, practical market perspective that the family is known for. Simply put, this is a true Riserva in a “basic” bottle, an utterly outstanding wine at an outstanding price. With wonderful aromas of black cherry, rhubarb, pepper, and slight vanilla from the French oak. A beautiful wine from one of Chianti’s finest, most dedicated micro-producers.

Grown at high altitiude in Chianti Classico (approximately 1500 feet above sea level), this Merlot from Podere Ciona is remarkably clear in style and tension, with stinging, bright red fruits, subtle smoky notes, and a firm-bodied lushness that befits exceptional Merlot. From young vines, the fruits are very fresh, and goes perfectly with red and white meats. One of our favorites.

The Winery Description:
TERRE GAIE (Happy Lands) is a family operation directed by Salvatore Lovo, his wife Rita Ferasin and their daughter Silvia. The Terre Gaie estate is located in the village of Vo' Euganeo, half way between the towns of Padova and Vicenza--a hilly region known as the Colli Euganei with long winemaking tradition. This modern and dynamic winery produces about 100, 000 bottles of high quality estate grown Prosecco from the most favored hillside part of the region. The winery itself is modern, dating from 2004, being built on the existing property of the Lovo and Ferasin families, who have owned vineyards in Vo' since the eighteen century.
